  • mARK aTHERTON, sENIOR pASTOR

    Mark was a college and high school basketball coach before becoming a Christian and being called into ministry.  He was ordained in 2003, served four other churches and was Assistant District Superintendent of the Southwestern Ohio District before coming to Xenia Naz in 2011.  Mark is a graduate of Lafayette High School (Lexington, KY), University of Kentucky and Asbury Theological Seminary.  He is married to Sue; they have two boys, Christopher and Levi.

  • Jeff blackaby, maintenance director

    Jeff has the enormous task of maintaining all of our buildings and properties on both campuses.  Because of his heating/air, electrical, machinery and construction knowledge, Jeff is a valuable asset to our church.  He is married to Paula; they have three grown and married children and 10 grandchildren.

  • mack bottorff, outreach pastor

    Mack is a lifelong Xenia resident.  He graduated from Xenia High School (XHS) in 1961, served in the U.S. Marine Corps and studied education at Central State University.  He serves in outreach ministries and works alongside Pastor Jason at our Riverside campus. He has been an educator for over 40 years, and is passionate about working with youth in the community and especially the athletes he coaches. He also serves as chaplain for XHS football and basketball teams.  He and his wife, Sylvia, have two adult children and four  grandchildren.

  • nathan chrisman, youth pastor

    As a Xenia native, God has given Nathan a heart for Xenia youth.  His Xenia Naz student ministry is called Uncommon Youth Church (UYC.me).  He is also the founder/director of The Cleft (TheCleft.org), which is a nonprofit ministry reaching hundreds of middle/high school students monthly. He is also a lead developer of the Youth Leader Experience Conference (youthleaderexperience.com), a Lead222 Coach, and gives leadership to Lead222 Gatherings (Lead222.com).  Nathan and his wife, Mindy have four children, Judah , Jovi, Justice and Jace.

  • Karen Cummings, Administrative Assistant

    Karen has been on staff since May of 1989, and has served as administrative assistant to four senior pastors. Working behind the scenes, Karen assists with communications, event planning, calendar planning, project management, website management, etc.  She has been married to Mark since 1977 and they have two grown and married sons and three grandchildren.

  • Mike Hancock, associate pastor

    Mike served as senior pastor for 25 years at the same church.  After resigning, Mike joined the Xenia Naz team as associate pastor in August 2015.  His responsibilities include senior adults, visitation and hospitality ministries.  Pastor Mike and his wife, Becky, are a lot of fun, very personable, and have a great sense of humor.  They have three grown children - Brannon (Gloria), Katherine (Wayne) and Nathan; they have five grandchildren - Andrew, Joseph, Cecilia, Elliot and Jovie.

  • Tyler Hodge, Youth Ministries Director (Riverside)

    Tyler received his local minister's license in 2015, which is the first step toward ordination.  He assists Pastor Nathan with the Xenia Naz youth ministry, and is also serving as youth ministry director at our Riverside Campus under Pastor Jason's leadership.

  • brian leach, pastor to children and families

    Brian has been in full-time ministry for more than 13 years.  He enjoys doing God's work and meeting new people.  He and his wife, Amy, have been married for more than 26 years. They have three adult daughters, Katie, Sarah (Justin)  and Ali (Joey); two granddaughters, Bailey and Ariah; and two grandsons, Brennen and Clyde.  Brian's hobbies include boating, racquetball and watching NFL football.  His passions include teaching kids and families, spending time with his own family and spoiling his grandchildren.  Brian was born in Xenia, moved away for a number of years, and considers it a blessing to be back living and ministering in Xenia again.

  • Jason McCauley, Campus Pastor (Riverside)

    Jason grew up in Xenia, graduated from Ashland University with a degree in Criminal Justice and then worked for Greene County Juvenile Court for 16 years prior to accepting the call to full-time ministry.  He and his wife, Gina, have two daughters--Jillian and Jenavieve, and two sons--J.J. and Brayden.  They are also foster parents.  Riverside Nazarene is a unique ministry.  Jason and Gina are excited to pastor there and feel blessed to be part of God's transforming work in that community.

  • Carrie McIntosh, Middle School Girls Ministry leader

    Carrie has received a minister's license from the Southwestern Ohio District of the Church of the Nazarene.  She is continuing her studies toward ordination.  Serving in ministry is a prerequisite to ordination, so Carrie is volunteering her time to work with our middle school girls' ministry.  She has great rapport with her students and we are blessed to have her as part of our leadership team.




  • Cheryl Sabo, secretary

    Cheryl joined the leadership team in 2014.  She is generally the first person you'll encounter when contacting the church office.  Her friendly and pleasant personality makes her perfect for the job. Among other things, Cheryl handles all of the facility scheduling, which keeps her very  busy. She and her husband, Darren, have three daughters and one son in law.

  • Clay Sell, worship leader

    Clay joined the Xenia Naz staff in May 2016.  Both he and his wife, Emma, were born and raised in Xenia.  Clay has a degree from both Central Sate University and Cedarville University, and served in the U.S. Air Force.  He is a very talented guitarist, experienced worship leader and a great coach for our worship team.   He and his wife, Emma, have a son named Otto.

  • Joey Wallen, Worship Leader (Riverside)

    Joey began serving at our Riverside Campus in February 2016.  Joey uses his musical talents to lead the worship services.  He was raised in Xenia and graduated from Xenia High School in 2013.  In addition to serving as worship leader, he is also employed full time at Wallen Companies.    He is married to Ali.
